Ladybugs & Butterflies - No, strike that. Reverse it.

Confession: I have a horrid infatuation with those most attractive adjectives. That is the full-out truth. I always have this obnoxious feeling that a sentence is bare and patchy without that little extra flair that a few adjective can supply it with.

Second Confession: My best friend on any computer is the Thesaurus. I can't leave a sentence alone with just a few mundane adjectives. No, the sentence has to have some excitement in it. Some panache, or polish, or artistry! So instead of using the stuffy old words that float around in my head to bore everyone with, I search for a few substitute words to add some significance. It is much more enjoyable that way.

And.... Down to business.  Here is the second pair of little girl's Toms I did a loooong time ago, before Christmas.

The theme for the pair was to be earthy tones with butterflies and ladybugs.

And the butterflies had to be pink! Which is how it should be.

Unfortunately, there are no synonyms for "ladybug" that rise up in my tremendous thesaurus; and the only one for "butterfly" is "lepidopteran." Which is quite fun to say, but doesn't have quite the right feel to it. No, "ladybugs" and "butterflies" will have to be sufficient for describing these beetles and insects.

Certainly, I could describe the ladybugs like so: those small evil red or yellow beetles with black spots who eat those bugs that eat plant sap.

I'm sure you would know instantly what I was talking about, but that description is much to long. That won't do.

Thankfully, I don't even have to tell you what they are! Because everyone knows what a ladybug or a butterfly is... and if they didn't they could figure it out, I am certain.

Sincerely,

Michaela Cherié
