Last month brought about the 13th birthday of my wonderful little brother Nathan. For his b-day gift I gave him a pair of white canvas Chuck Taylor Converse, his to decide what went on them. As it turned out, the issue for him wasn't deciding what to put on them, but what to not put on. He wanted everything on the pair. Hiccup and Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon, the Tardis, Tasmanian Devil, a mad scientist, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. In the end, we brainstormed, and limited the design to one thing. And so I give you the end result!
He loves the How to Train Your Dragon books, so we put Hiccup and Toothless on the outside of the left shoe. The style was based off of the illustrations in the books. By no means, are they perfect. But they turned out pretty similar...
A wibbly-wobbley design from the books on the inside of the shoes....
And on the outside of the right shoe I drew/painted a picture of Nato and Popeye, his quaker parrot, in the same style as Hiccup and Toothless.
Gosh, I cannot believe he is 13 years old!!!
